The Elephant Seller’s Daughter

The Elephant Seller's DaughterThere is a choice to be made between love and desire. Between holding on, and letting go.

“OK.  Now try this.”  Relyana’s small dark wrists moved rapidly over the tree stump, shifting a set of irregular blue and green ceramic mugs under them.  Around and through she mixed, then stopped with them in a cluster.  She shoved each mug out to the periphery of the stump, forming a flower pattern.

The Elephant Seller’s Daughter is a short story from the collection Tales from the Red Book of Tunes.
